Embark on a comprehensive 4-day expedition across the heart of Turkmenistan, designed for travelers crossing from Uzbekistan via the Shavat border. This route seamlessly blends ancient history with desert adventure and modern grandeur. You will explore the sacred mausoleums of UNESCO-listed Kunya-Urgench, stand before the fiery “Door to Hell” at the Darvaza Gas Crater, wander the white-marble streets of Ashgabat, and walk through the sprawling archaeological site of Ancient Merv. We handle all logistics, including your LOI, border crossing support, and 4×4 transport, ensuring an immersive and stress-free Silk Road experience.

Day 1

Shavat Border → Kunya-Urgench → Darvaza — Border crossing, exploration of UNESCO ruins in Kunya-Urgench, and 4×4 desert drive to the Darvaza Gas Crater.
Day 2

Darvaza → Ashgabat — Sunrise at the crater, morning desert drive to Ashgabat, and afternoon tour of the capital’s marble monuments.
Day 3

Ashgabat → Merv → Mary — Morning visit to historical sites near Ashgabat, afternoon transfer to Mary, and exploration of Ancient Merv (UNESCO).
Day 4

Mary → Farap Border — Museum visit in Mary and transfer to the Farap border for exit into Uzbekistan.

This was a superb tour... beautifully crafted, taking us through the long history of Turkmenistan. The accommodation was wonderful and the food experiences truly memorable. The guides both went to great lengths to provide us with experiences much beyond expectations and I cannot thank them enough.
